What is WeKan?

WeKan gives you Trello-style boards with lists, swimlanes, cards, checklists, labels, due dates and attachments, for anything from a personal to-do list to a team project. It has been developed since 2014, supports sign-in through LDAP, OAuth2 and other methods, imports boards from Trello and other tools, and offers webhooks and a REST API. It can be installed with Docker, Snap or as builds for Windows, macOS and Linux.

Good fit if

  • You want a self-hosted Trello replacement with a long track record.
  • You need LDAP or OAuth2 sign-in for an organization.

Look elsewhere if

  • You want a faster, more modern board: PLANKA or Kan.
  • You need full project management with Gantt and time tracking: OpenProject.

Before you adopt it

WeKan is MIT-licensed and free. Its maintainer, Lauri Ojansivu, has led development for many years and makes very frequent releases, so check upgrade notes when updating.
