What is Kaneo?

Kaneo aims to be project management that does not become a project itself. Work appears in board, list, calendar or Gantt views, with a backlog, filters and search. Tasks keep their context together: descriptions, attachments, subtasks, dependencies, labels, comments and time tracking. Teams share workspaces with invitations, custom roles, live updates and public projects. It runs with PostgreSQL, and 18 translations of the interface are available.

Good fit if

  • You want a fresh, lightweight alternative to Jira or Linear for a small team.
  • You want Gantt and calendar views without a heavy install.

Look elsewhere if

  • You want a more established tracker with a large user base: Plane.
  • You only need kanban boards: PLANKA or Kan.

Before you adopt it

Kaneo is MIT-licensed and free, with a hosted cloud as an option. It is young, started in December 2024, and its creator writes most of the code. A Helm chart is included.
