What is Repomix?

Repomix collects the files of a repository, respects your ignore rules, and writes them into a single file you can paste or upload into a chat with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or another model. It reports token counts per file and for the whole output, so you know whether it fits a model's context window, and it can compress code to its key structures to save tokens. Secretlint runs over the files first to catch API keys and other secrets. It works from the command line, as an MCP server, or on the repomix.com website.

Good fit if

  • You use chat-based models and want to give them a full codebase in one step.
  • You need to check how many tokens a project would take before sending it.

Look elsewhere if

  • You want an agent that reads and edits the repository by itself: OpenCode or Cline.

Before you adopt it

Repomix is MIT-licensed and free. Almost all commits come from its creator, Kazuki Yamada, so the project relies on one person. Check the output for private code before you upload it to a hosted model.
