MeTube

A web interface for yt-dlp that downloads videos, audio, playlists and whole channels from YouTube and many other sites to your server.

What is MeTube?

MeTube puts yt-dlp behind a browser page: paste a link and it saves the video, audio, subtitles or thumbnails to your server. It handles single videos, playlists and channels, and can subscribe to channels or playlists to queue new uploads automatically. Each download can have its own quality, format and folder, while server-wide yt-dlp options and presets apply to everything. Settings come from environment variables, and the Docker image runs on amd64 and arm64.

Good fit if

  • You want to archive videos to a NAS or media server without running yt-dlp by hand.
  • Several people in your household need a simple download page.

Look elsewhere if

  • You want to watch YouTube through a private front end instead of saving files: Invidious.
  • You want to host and share your own videos publicly: PeerTube.

Before you adopt it

MeTube is AGPL-3.0 and has nothing paid. A small group maintains it with frequent releases. Respect the terms of the sites you download from and copyright where you live. Docker is the intended way to run it.
