What is GoCron?

GoCron reads job definitions, cron schedules and per-job environment variables from a single YAML file and runs the commands on time. Jobs inherit defaults for schedule, timeout, retries and pre or post commands, and edits to the file are picked up without a restart. A web UI backed by SQLite lets you trigger runs by hand and inspect logs, with optional single sign-on. It runs as a container or a Linux binary and is packaged for NixOS.

Good fit if

  • You want cron jobs kept as one config file in Git, with a UI to watch them.
  • You run backups or maintenance scripts on a single server.

Look elsewhere if

  • You need jobs spread across several servers: Cronicle.
  • You want to edit jobs in the browser instead of a file: Cronmaster.

Before you adopt it

GoCron is MIT-licensed, and every feature is free. It started in 2025 and is almost entirely the work of one developer, so its future depends on that person.
