What is HedgeDoc?

HedgeDoc lets several people edit the same Markdown note in real time in the browser, with live preview, diagrams, math and presentation mode. Version 1.x, which grew out of CodiMD, is stable and widely used, but its codebase became hard to extend, so the team is writing HedgeDoc 2 from scratch, split into a backend and a frontend. This repository's main branch holds that new code, which does not implement every feature yet; the 1.x code lives on the master branch.

Good fit if

  • You take shared meeting notes or write documentation together in Markdown.
  • You want to follow the development of the 2.0 rewrite.

Look elsewhere if

Before you adopt it

HedgeDoc is AGPL-3.0, community-run and without paid parts. For production use the 1.x release, which now receives maintenance only, and treat 2.0 as work in progress.
